REVIEW OF AYR COMMON GOOD DONATIONS

Requests which have been received by South Ayrshire Council for donations from the Ayr Common Good Fund are to be reviewed by a specially set up working party before being considered for full payment.

The working party, chaired by Provost Winifred Sloan, has been set up by the Council's Policy and Resources Committee, after the committee considered the 2006/07 Revenue budget of the Common Good Funds of Ayr, Prestwick, Troon, Maybole and Girvan, which are looked after by the Council.

The committee decided that an interim donation of only 50% of the funding sought from the Ayr Common Good Fund can be allocated, and called for a report from the working party to be provided to the next meeting of the Policy and Resources Committee on April 6, 2006.

The donations approved by the committee for allocation were:

Alloway Auld Kirk, £35,000; Ayr Christmas lights, £3,000; Ayr Concert Series, £13,500; Borderline, £30,000; Civic Hospitality, £5,000; Keynote Trust, £20,000; Professional Performances (Gaiety Theatre), £10,000; Shopmobility, £37,750 and the Ayrshire Festival, £12,500.

Already agreed to be allocated in 2006/07 under service level agreements are donations of £50,000 to the Burns Festival, and £12,000 to Ayr Agricultural Show.
