Young people involved in the South Ayrshire Young Scot programme have been checking out the literary world by interviewing well known authors and reviewing their work.  The young people in the programme, known as the Hack Pack, have been trained by staff at the Dialogue Youth Unit to conduct interviews and post up their book reviews on the local pages of the national youth information portal at www.youngscot.org/southayrshire

Waterstones, the national book shop with an outlet in the High Street, Ayr, are partners in the initiative. Copies of the reviews undertaken are also posted up in card format within the shop, so check them out before making your choice!

Among recent interviews are Gordon Smith, respected Scottish author and medium, Alan Titchmarsh, gardening guru, broadcaster and author, Ian Rankin, crime writer and Rebus creator and James McClelland, children’s writer and Chuggalug creator and John Gregg, author and footballer.
