INTERIM ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOUR ORDER GRANTED

South Ayrshire Council has had two interim Antisocial Behaviour Orders (ASBO) granted at Ayr Sheriff Court for two adults who have been creating excessive noise and making the lives of others miserable.

Antisocial behaviour comes in many forms including:

  • Noisy neighbours
  • Fly tipping
  • Vandalism
  • Noise nuisance
  • Youth disorder

Councillor Hugh Hunter, the Convener of the Council’s Community Safety Committee said:  “When complaints are received by the Council about antisocial behaviour Officers do everything they can to bring the parties concerned together and bring the matter to a conclusion that everyone is happy with.

“Unfortunately mediation does not always work and sometimes antisocial behaviour contracts are entered into, and if this fails then an application is made for an ASBO.

“I would like to reassure people that a lot of hard work is being done to tackle antisocial behaviour, and usually it works, but if necessary the Council will take things to another level and apply for an ASBO.”

An experienced and dedicated Antisocial Behaviour Team provides services for the whole of South Ayrshire.  The service is free and confidential and offers a 24 hour advice line to encourage people to report incidents of antisocial behaviour.

The team investigates each complaint thoroughly and uses partner agencies to resolve complaints.  It focuses on preventing antisocial behaviour problems, but will take enforcement action where appropriate.

A free mediation service is also available to encourage informal solutions to disputes.
More information about this service can be obtained by telephoning 01292 294063.

Antisocial behaviour can come in many shapes and forms and anyone in South Ayrshire can contact staff on telephone number 0845 850 28285 where trained staff will be ready to help.
