FUNDING FOR VOLUNTARY ORGANISATION AND INDIVIDUALS

South Ayrshire Council’s Policy and Resources Sub Committee has approved requests for financial assistance for the following voluntary organisations and individuals involved in arts and cultural activities.

Ayr United Community Initiative To assist with costs of running a campaign against racism including distributing official ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ goods within South Ayrshire schools. The grant will assist with the creation and sponsorship of an anti-racism advertising board at Somerset Park. £3,520
Maybole South Tenants and Residents Association To assist with the running costs of the organisation and also transport and hall hire costs.

Ayr Friends of The Hospice To help with costs of holding a Gala Concert as part of Hospice Fundraising’s 21st birthday elebrations at the Gaiety Theatre, Ayr. £1,188
Barassie Senior Citizens Club To help with costs of Bingo prizes, speakers fees and their 25th anniversary outing in September. £200
Carrick Community Transport Group To help with costs of providing subsidised transport for local target groups such as young people, elderly groups, pre-5’s, out of school care and adult education projects. £5,280
Carrick District Scout Council To assist with administration costs and Leaders training subsidies. £200
Girvan Traditional Folk Festival To help with costs of organising, promoting and managing a festival of traditional music, song and dance and to encourage local participation in these events. Costs include booking of artists and technical staff and hire of venues. £3,520
Kirkmichael Senior Citizens To assist with cost of coach hire for outings. £200
North Carrick Elderly Forum To assist with general running costs of the group. £200
South Ayrshire Sports Council To help continue the development of sport within South Ayrshire and with its affiliated clubs through financial support in the form of grants and sponsorship for personalimprovement, events and initiatives. To contribute towardscosts of publishing a newsletter and administering their website. £6,160
Couple Counselling Ayrshire To assist with costs of running the organisation and appointing a full time manager.

Cunninghame Orienteering Club To help with the costs of running the Ayrshire 2005 Schools Championships, including medals for all participating children, administration and publicity costs. South Ayrshire Schools involved are Braehead, Whitletts, Dalmilling andTarbolton primaries. £300
Girvan and District Horticultural Society To defray the cost of hiring Girvan Primary School as the Beach Pavilion which was previously used and is no longer available. £616
Sensory Impaired Support Group Enterprises Ltd To help with costs of recruiting and training 20 volunteers, providing lip-reading and sign language classes and to help the group to expand and cover more nursing/residential Homes and people in isolation. £4,400
British and European Geranium Society To help finance the cost of hiring a venue, publicity materials, cost of speakers, transport and administrative costs for the national show.

British Retinitis Pigmentosa Society To assist with annual running costs such as postage, telephone expenses, printing, stationery, photocopying and attendance at conferences and meetings. £100
Ethnic Minorities Law Centre To assist with costs of delivering an effective legal service to ethnic minority communities living within South Ayrshire in a bi-lingual and culturally sensitive setting. £880
Glasgow LGBT Centre To assist with costs of staff and volunteer training and expenses, office supplies, salaries and other Administrative costs. £500
PHACE Scotland To assist with the administration and core support costs for the Gay Men’s and Support Advocacy Service. £4,224
Scottish Amateur Flute Band Association To help with the cost of paying a share of the expenses involved in running a Band Contest in Troon Concert Hall in April 2005. £200
Scottish Human Rights Centre To assist with the administration costs of the organisation. The work benefits all citizens as it increases awareness ofH uman rights as well as specifically benefiting a wide range of people, in particular those who are socially excluded, or suffer discrimination on any grounds. £880
Scottish Spina Bifida Association To help maintain and improve the organisations Family Support Service. This includes an advocacy and Information service, provision of respite care holidays and free newsletters for service users. £880
The Council for Music in Hospitals To assist with the provision of 15 concerts of live music for people in hospital or longstay residential care within South Ayrshire. Concerts are given by professional musicians who are selected for their ability to communicate with sensitivity. £880
West of Scotland Brass Band Association To help with costs of hall rent, adjudicators fees and prizes for the annual West of Scotland Brass Band Festival. £933
West of Scotland Institute of Sport To contribute towards the continued development of the organisation, to help athletes throughout the West of Scotland primarily through the provision of quality coaching and other areas of support delivered by highly qualified staff. £3,520
West of Scotland Seniors Forum To assist with the running costs of the organisation who provide advice, training, information and support for new and established local senior forums in South Ayrshire and the West of Scotland. £2,200
Workers Educational Association To help meet the association’s employment and operational costs of a part-time tutor organiser in the area who is responsible for deliver the association’s programme in South Ayrshire. Also the cost of a teaching programme including sessional tutor fees. £2,816
Alan David Scott To help with the costs of attending the West of Scotland Orchestra School and performances.
