SCOTTISH INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF RUGBY

It is only five weeks until Scotland's biggest international youth rugby tournament kicks off at Ayr.

More than one thousand youngsters between the ages of nine and seventeen will take part in the Scottish International Festival of Rugby at Millbrae on April 9th and 10th.

With the backing of principal sponsors Gerrard, Stockbrokers, Ayr Rugby Club, working together with South Ayrshire Council and international tournament specialists Team Tours Direct in partnership with the Scottish Rugby Union, Haven Holiday Park Craig Tara and Wellington School, plan to stage the largest junior international rugby event in Scotland.

"In 2004 the event was a big success here" said Ricky Davies, Senior Event Co-Ordinator for Team Tours Direct, "and with over 1,000 players descending on Ayr from England, Wales, Ireland and of course Scotland, we look forward to a superb weekend of rugby."

Ayr RFC president Jock Craig said: "The club is delighted to be involved in what is becoming one of the most prestigious events in the Scottish junior rugby calendar."

Said South Ayrshire Council Provost Gordon McKenzie: "It is terrific to have so many youngsters from all over the UK coming into the area and shows just how well placed Ayr is to host this type of event."

The age groups will range from P4 to Under 17 and there is still an opportunity for local clubs to be involved in what promises to be a memorable experience for young players.

Entry forms are available on the Ayr RFC website at www.ayrrugbyclub.co.uk and any further information needed can be obtained from Raymond Dorian on 01292-500359
