GENESIS GYMNASIA COMPETITION WINNER
| Mrs Beth Walker of Prestwick has won one years free membership for the Genesis Gymnasia situated within South Ayrshire Council's Swimming Pool at Prestwick. In 2003 the gymnasium within the Citadel Leisure Centre, Ayr was refurbished and renamed Genesis Gymnasia, a name that was chosen from those nominated by members of the public as a brand name for upgraded Council gymnasiums. Earlier this year areas within Prestwick and Troon Swimming Pools were transformed into Genesis Gymnasia. In the short time that they have been open over 115 people have become members at each location. The Leader of South Ayrshire Council, Councillor Andy Hill said: I am delighted that the Genesis Gymnasia are proving to be so popular. The quality and value for money offered in these gyms is outstanding. The variety of equipment means that people can exercise at a level suitable to their physical abilities and steadily improve their fitness. The gyms provide an opportunity for people to maintain a physically active and healthy lifestyle by taking regular exercise." To celebrate the success of the launch in Prestwick and Troon the Council decided to give one lucky person, randomly selected from the Troon and Prestwick members, a years free membership. After learning of her prize Mrs Beth Walker said: "I am delighted with this prize. The gym at Prestwick Pool is wonderful and I would encourage as many people as possible to use it." Fully qualified staff are available to assist members in developing a personal fitness programme and to offer help, advice and encouragement. Members can follow their workout programme in modern, comfortable, air-conditioned rooms, where there is a great choice of equipment that can be used for a wide range of exercises. Anyone who wishes to exercise within the Genesis Gymnasia will require to undergo an induction programme with a member of staff, in order to ensure they use the equipment safely, and to make sure that they gain the maximum benefit from their chosen form of exercise. In addition to the Genesis Gymnasia at Prestwick and Troon each has a swimming pool in which people can enjoy a leisurely swim, or choose to take part in a wide range of water activities that are on offer. A variety of membership packages are available for the Genesis Gymnasia. Anybody who would like further information on the Genesis Gymnasia, or other leisure facilities can pop in and speak to staff, or log onto the Council website at www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/leisure.
