During a routine inspection at the Citadel in Ayr, which was carried out by South Ayrshire Council staff, some concerns were raised about the stability of one chimney situated at the side of the building.

Further investigations are now being carried out by Council Building Standards Officers, to determine the most appropriate action.

At this point in time there is no necessity to close the Citadel, and all facilities are currently operating as normal.

Members of the public should be aware that part of the car parking area at the Citadel has been closed off as a precautionary measure as public safety is the Council’s primary concern.

Anyone who has special parking needs may wish to telephone 01292 294707 to check on the latest situation with parking prior to attending to use facilities at the Citadel.
