THE BLUES BROTHERS VISIT THE GAIETY

The highly acclaimed musical of the smash hit film ‘The Blues Brothers’ will be performed at the Gaiety Theatre in Ayr for one night only on 29 April 2005.

Convener of South Ayrshire Council’s Economic and Tourism Development Committee, Councillor Robert Campbell was invited to the Gaiety to meet members of the cast. He said: “The Gaiety Theatre has played host to many stars, and securing a performance of ‘The Blues Brothers’ musical during the 25th anniversary year is an outstanding achievement.

“The Blues Brothers film was released in 1980 and in 2005 special celebrations are being held to mark the 25th anniversary of the film, with a nationwide tour of the show. The music from the film is still very popular today with people who saw the film when it was released, and with many younger people.

“I would like to welcome everyone involved with the production to the Gaiety Theatre, and hope that those lucky enough to get a ticket for the show have a great time.”

The Jake and Elwood production features a brand new £20,000 stage set, and the Black Rhino Band, who have been voted the ‘Hottest Soul Band In Europe’.

The nationwide ‘Special Anniversary Tour’ of the show features classic soul hits such as ‘Everybody’, ‘Soul Man’, ‘Mustang Sally’, ‘Midnight Hour’, ‘Do You Love Me’ and many more.

Tickets for the show are available from the Gaiety Theatre box office on telephone number 01292 611222.
