FUNDING AWARD FOR LICHTENFELS GARDENS

Dennis Forsyth, Chair of the Lichtenfels Gardens Tenants Association has been presented with funding of £600 from Awards for All .

Awards for All, which is a consortium of the Heritage Lottery Fund, Scottish Arts Council, sportscotland and the Big Lottery Fund consider applications from a diverse range of people for funding.

After presenting a certificate to Dennis to commemorate the funding, Councillor Helen Moonie said: "This amount of funding will make a big difference to the residents at Lichtenfels Gardens, and will help to meet the cost of some of the activities the residents are engaged in.

"£300 has been used towards paying for a coach outing to Cardwell Garden Centre at Lunderston Bay, and for a high tea at the Ardneil Hotel in Troon.

"Typical of the tenants who went on the day out, they brought back small presents for those who were not able for health reasons to join in the day out."

Residents within the sheltered housing unit at Lichtenfels Gardens each have their own home, but there is one unit which is used as a meeting place and where a wide range of activities from quiz nights, themed parties and fish and chip evenings take place.

Councillor Helen Moonie is seen presenting the commemorative certificate to Dennis Forsyth as they are joined by some of the residents and staff from Lichtenfels Gardens.
