With the nights already darker and winter well on the way, South Ayrshire Council have been making plans to ensure that local roads are kept free from as much snow and ice as possible should bad weather strike.

The South Ayrshire launch of a European funding initiative, promising £3.8 million of funding for rural areas, is set to take place on 20th November - with similar local launches taking place in East and North Ayrshire in the following days.

St Patrick's Primary School in Troon was one of 20 South Ayrshire Council schools who volunteered to take part in a national 'Hands Up' survey commissioned by Sustrans.
