A table of search charges is available on request by telephoning or emailing the Scottish and Local History Library.

It should be noted that library staff are unable to undertake extended research projects.

Charges will be dependant on which searches are carried out by staff, not on what is found. The following tariffs will apply:

Search 1: £11.75 inc VAT

This basic search will include staff consulting the IGI (International Genealogical Index), Old Parish Records, 1851, 1861, 1881 and 1891 Census Returns and associated indexes on microfilm or microfiche.

Search 2: £17.75 inc VAT

Basic search, plus newspapers for obituaries, death notices, plus the Calendar of Inventories and Confirmations. Dates must be provided.

Search 3: £23.50 inc VAT

As 1, plus a literature search, map locations plus copies and photographic archive search.

Customers should be aware that payment should be made in advance of the searches being undertaken, and that they are paying for the search rather than any information that is found.

All payments to be made in sterling or by credit/debit card.

Copying Services

Copies of material may be obtained in the form of photocopies subject to copyright restrictions and condition of material.
