What is the Activity for Health Scheme ?
This is a scheme established in conjunction with our colleagues
in the NHS. The scheme assists people to become more active and
promotes the benefits of an active lifestyle.
Who is the Scheme Aimed At ?
In general terms, increased activity levels will benefit any
individual falling into one or more of the following categories:
• Sedentary lifestyle (inactive)
• Obese/overweight
• High cholesterol level
• Smoker
• Hypertension (high blood pressure)
• Musculo/skeletal disorders (e.g. arthritis, osteoporosis, back pain)
• Coronary Heart Disease/Angina
• Family history of Coronary Heart Disease
• Anxiety/mild depression/stress/low self esteem
• Diabetes
How do I become Involved in the Scheme ?
Contact your local health professional – GP, Practice
Nurse, Physiotherapist, Cardiac Nurse, Dietician, Occupational
Health Nurse, Health Visitor, Community Pharmacist (local chemist)
or Mental Health Team and ask about the scheme.

What Happens When I am Referred to the Scheme ?
A member of our Health and Fitness Team will arrange an appointment
for you to come and have a relaxed, informal chat about your
activity levels and life style. We will also have a chat about
what type of activities might be suitable for you e.g. Aquatrim,
Cardiac Rehabilitation Classes, Keep Fit for Beginners, Pilates,
Swimming, Tai-Chi, Walking, simple home based exercise or one
of our many other activities.
We will keep in contact with you throughout your membership
to provide you with assistance, advice and support.
How Much Does It Cost to Join the Scheme ?
Nothing - membership of the scheme is absolutely free.
