The town itself has a wide range of facilities well suited to families. These include a swimming pool, golf course, bowling green, a number of parks, local schools and shops. The library offers a number of resources including access to daily newspapers and computer training from its Cyber Center computers. The seaside villages of Turnberry and Maidens are within 6 miles of the town.
