Security

South Ayrshire Council places great importance on security within local housing estates. Many properties have already been fitted with security lighting, door entry systems, and door chains. The Capital and Revenue Team will offer advice on any current programmes.

All external doors are fitted with a 5-lever mortice lock as standard. If Housing Services staff identify a property where this standard of lock has not been fitted, they will authorise the work to be carried out.

Close Circuit Television has been fitted in some estates where particular problems with crime and vandalism have been identified. The South Ayrshire Monitoring Station monitors these areas on a 24-hour basis. The South Ayrshire Monitoring Station work closely with Strathclyde Police control room staff, and a direct telephone line connects the two locations.
