Mental Health

Mental Health (Care & Treatment)(Scotland) Act 2003

The new Mental Health (Care & Treatment)(Scotland) Act 2003 brings significant changes to how people will experience mental health services and places new and extended duties on local authority and NHS services.

For the local authority, this extends to all departments of the Council and requires close cooperation with the NHS in Ayrshire and Arran.

There are staff within each authority; South Ayrshire, East Ayrshire, North Ayrshire and NHS Ayrshire and Arran, tasked with ensuring effective implementation.
