If you have alcohol or drug addiction problems or requires help to stop smoking, you can contact the following services for advice and information:

Community Pharmacy Smoking Cessation Service
This service is for you if you feel ready to quit smoking but feel that you may need a little help. This pharmacy-based programme will provide personalised support and advice and perhaps nicotine replacement therapy. The programme lasts for 12 weeks. Alternatively, you could contact your GP for support.

This is the Smoking Prevention and Cessation Service in Ayrshire and Arran. This service provides one to one support, group support, information and advice, access to treatments including nicotine replacement therapy. You should contact the above helpline number.

This service provides individual counselling, group activities, telephone counselling, family and carer support, access to agencies and information and training.

Community Dual Diagnosis Team (01292 473250)

This service is for individuals aged 16 and over who are experiencing current chaotic alcohol and/or drug use and severe mental illness. Nursing staff assess each client and determine an appropriate care plan. Clients are assisted to cope with their mental health and addiction issues. Referrals are made through any health and social care professionals, with the knowledge of the clients own GP.

Dual Diagnosis Residential Team (01292 513126)

This service provides individual assessment and residential rehabilitation for clients who can demonstrate motivation to address their problems, are not experiencing physical withdrawal symptoms and can participate in group sessions.

Home Detox Team (01292 473250)
Westmount, 79 Ayr Road, Prestwick, KA9 1TF
This service is for you if you want help to stop your problematic use of alcohol or drugs, although they do not provide a detox from benzodiazepines. They provide a detoxification service for clients based in their own homes. If this is not assessed as being safe, then alcohol clients can be referred for inpatient detox.

Referrals to this service should be made through your clients own GP. Referrals can also be made through psychiatric liaison nurses working in accident and emergency departments.

This service is aimed at people who are stable, or approaching stability, and who want to move on to education, training, employment or just to get a sense of ‘normality’. They welcome referrals from organisations such as the NHS, social work or housing services.
