Hands Up Survey

Every year, one week in September, children across Scotland are asked how they travel to school, as part of UK charity, Sustrans' annual Hands Up Scotland Survey - the largest and most comprehensive survey of travel-to-school behaviour.

The information gathered from the survey is invaluable in ensuring that Sustrans and Local Authority School Travel Coordinators can continue to effectively tackle the school run by supporting young people to walk and cycle to school.

It can be most useful for individual schools to carry out surveys throughout the school year to establish a pattern of school travel and to help identify initiatives and improvements that can be introduced to increase active travel and improve the journey to school.

All schools are requested to take part in the annual HUS in September.
