The Art of Ayrshire Needlework
Featuring the Agnes F. Bryson Textile Collection
24th May – 14th July
This touring exhibition features examples of Ayrshire needlework from the collection of Agnes F. Bryson, a noted authority on the subject. The project is presented in collaboration with Agnes F. Bryson and the Museum Services of East and South Ayrshire Councils. Ayrshire whitework flourished in the period 1820-1870 and the exhibition looks at the social history of its development, the design of patterns and technique of stitching and the renewed interest in this very fine art form. The exhibition contains examples of original textiles and artefacts from the collections of Agnes F. Bryson, East and South Ayrshire Councils.
