(Licensing of Skin Piercing and Tattooing) Order 2006
The above legislation came into force on 1 April 2006, which requires all skin piercing activities to be licensed.
Skin piercing activities includes any of the following:-
South Ayrshire Council is currently contacting all premises who may carry out some form of body piercing to advise of the necessity of a licence.
Businesses will require to be licensed before carrying out skin piercing or tattooing.
Existing businesses must have submitted an application for a licence to South Ayrshire Council by the 1st April 2006. It is recognised that this is a short time and therefore South Ayrshire Council will apply common sense to the timescales and allow a period of grace until the 30th April 2006 for applications to be received.
Applications for licences can be obtained from the Licensing Section, Town Buildings, New Bridge Street, Ayr.
If no application is received for relevant skin piercing activities enforcement action may be taken.
If the activities carried out on your premises come into the above criteria, you will require to meet certain conditions as indicated by the above legislation. A list of standards is available here.
