Respect South Ayrshire

South Ayrshire is a great place to live, work or visit thanks to our long sandy beaches, rolling countryside, market towns and rural villages, rich cultural and built heritage, unrivalled golf and sporting opportunities, and a host of other leisure and recreational facilities.

To keep it this way, we all need to ensure we keep dog poo off our streets and spaces.

Dog fouling is still one of the biggest complaints we receive. And it’s not just about it being unsightly – dog mess can carry a host of diseases which can be harmful to both humans and animal, causing blindness, food poisoning or even death.

We know most dog owners and walkers are responsible people, keeping dogs under proper control when out for a walk and bagging and binning dog waste.

But there are some who don’t and our enforcement team are out and about in communities to identify offenders and issue them with a £80 fixed penalty notice.

Please be a responsible dog walker and respect South Ayrshire.

remember to bag it and bin it
ensure you have enough dog waste bags with you
stop your dog from alarming people and other dogs
please obey signage in appropriate areas
ensure your dog is regularly wormed
chip your dog
tag your dog

On 4th September 2013, with the assistance of Provost Helen Moonie, Councillor John McDowall and some four legged friends from Prestwick and District Dog Training Club , we launched the new “Respect” campaign on Prestwick Beach. You can view the photographs of the event here.
