Energy and Fuel Poverty Strategies and reports

As a result of the Home Energy Conservation Act (1995) the Council became an Energy Conservation Authority and in December 1997 published its strategy to improve the energy efficiency of all housing in the area. Part of this strategy involved setting up an energy advice centre with the aid of European funding.

At the Community Services Committee of 25th July 2000 the Council adopted the following mission statement:

“South Ayrshire Council seek to significantly improve the energy efficiency of all housing within its boundaries with the aims of eliminating fuel poverty, reducing CO2 and other harmful emissions to the environment, improving the health and comfort of residents, reducing fuel bills of residents and stimulating employment.

This will be achieved by continuing investment in its own housing, stock providing a quality advice service and maintaining and developing links across as wide a range of partners as possible to encourage action across all housing tenures.”
