Who are we?
We were launched in Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh in 1999.
Two years later we are a group of nearly 200 elected young people
aged between 14 and 25 years, who aim to be the collective national
youth voice for all young people in Scotland.
What do we do?
The Scottish Youth Parliament meets three times a year, discusses
issues which affect young people across Scotland and tries to
propose innovative and sometimes radical solutions to these problems
and situations. So far we have created a consultation document
called Pointing the Way Forward, which we hope to use in order
to enable young people across Scotland to have their voice heard.
In addition, our members will be consulting on Pointing the Way
Forward across Scotland which represents the views of as many
young people as possible and is then even better!
Why do we do it?
We think that young people in Scotland have the right to have
their views listened to and acted upon. We want to work together
with all organisations and groups in Scotland which have a link
with young people, to ensure they do as best they can for Scotland's
young people.
How does the Scottish Youth Parliament affect me?
Whether you're in education, employment or otherwise, the Scottish
Youth Parliament deals with issues which directly affect you and
have an impact on your life.
