South Ayrshire Council Election
The Local Governance (Scotland) Act 2004 introduced proportional representation for local authority elections and the creation of multi-member wards. As a consequence, the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland reviewed electoral arrangements for all local authorities in Scotland for the elections due to take place in 3 May 2007.
The Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland concluded their Fourth Statutory Review of Electoral Arrangements for the South Ayrshire area in 2006. Scottish Ministers approved the Local Government Boundary Commission’s recommendations as detailed below:
