Register of Councillors' Interests
The Scottish Parliament has approved a Councillors' Code of Conduct. The Code came
into effect on 1 May 2003 and applies to all councillors and reinforces the expectation
of the highest standards of behaviour.
The Standards Commission for Scotland is an independent body set up by the Scottish
Parliament to promote high standards in public life and to investigate alleged breaches
of the Code.
In terms of the Code, each Councillor is required to register their own interests
across a number of categories:
A description of any gifts or hospitality received, the name of the donor, the date
received and the approximate value.
