Location: County Buildings, Ayr Neighbourhood ServicesNeighbourhood Services is all about the environment in which we live - the roads, parks and open spaces. We ensure that they are well maintained, clean and litter free and, above all, safe to use. Neighbourhood Services comprises the following teams: The Community Safety Team is responsible for implementing Community Safety Antisocial Behaviour initiatives and includes a specialist Anti-Social Behaviour Unit backed up by Community Support Officers and extensive CCTV and Community Alarm monitoring systems. The Team also leads the work of the multi-agency South Ayrshire Community Safety Partnership and the multi-agency Partnership on Violence against Women and Children. The Roads Maintenance Team is responsible for the management and maintenance of South Ayrshire's roads. This includes safety inspections of the roads network, the co-ordination of public utility works, road adoptions, the issue of skip and road occupation and opening permits and the design of roads and footway maintenance and improvement schemes. Many of these schemes are carried out by the Roads Maintenance workforce who also provide a full winter gritting and emergency response service. The Grounds & Parks Team is responsible for the maintenance of public parks and open spaces, children’s play areas, outdoor sports ground facilities and for the provision of a broad range of landscape and horticulture related services. Many of the floral displays in and around our towns are installed and maintained by this Team. The Waste Management Team is responsible for street cleaning, domestic and commercial refuse collection, recycling and civic amenity centres, waste disposal and public conveniences. The Team is heavily involved in delivering the Area Waste Strategy which aims to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill. Neighbourhood Services has been charged with developing a fresh approach to the delivery of these core services which will make them more efficient and effective and, in particular, more responsive to local needs. The basis for this will be an integrated area management approach which will link these previously separate services and develop new ways of working to improve our environment. We hope you will notice the difference. |
