The main functions and responsibilities of Building
Standards are: Building Warrants; Housing Grants; Relaxations
and completion certificates; Building Safety and Regulation; Street
Naming and Numbering; Technical Support to Licensing; Safety of
Sports Grounds; Engineering Services; Major Project Co-ordination;
Flood Prevention; Safety of Reservoirs; Disability Issues; and
Property Enquiries.
The main functions and responsibilities of Planning
Development are: Planning Applications; Listed Building
Applications; Conservation Areas; Advertisement Consent Application;
All appeals relative to the above categories; Providing Screening
Opinions for Environmental Assessments; Investigation of potential
breaches of planning control; Hazardous Substance Consents;
Mineral Consents; Non Material Variations; Provision of Property
Information; Development Monitoring; Development Data Collection;
Farm and Forestry Notifications; Providing pre-application
planning advice; and Telecommunication Industry Notifications.
The main functions and responsibilities of Local
Planning are: Preparation of statutory development plans;
Contribution of the preparations of the Ayrshire Joint Structure
Plan; Conservation of the built environment; Preparation of master
plans and development briefs; Provision of population/ demographic/
census information; Environmental Improvement Projects; Development
of Planning Policy; Rural Issues; Rights of Way and Access to
the Countryside; Nature Conservation; Tree Preservation and Forestry;
and Technical/ Graphic/GIS support to the Department.
