Open Space Strategy
South Ayrshire Council has developed an Open Space Strategy and is seeking the public’s views and comments on the document.
The strategy has been produced to provide a coordinated approach to the provision of quality open space by South Ayrshire
Council to the residents and visitors of South Ayrshire. It sets out a vision, for the provision, management and
maintenance of open spaces in South Ayrshire and is designed to improve the quality, management, accessibility and
usage of parks and other open spaces while identifying the need for new or improved facilities where there are deficits
in provision.
The document is built upon the results of the public consultation that was undertaken during August – September of 2011,
in which the Council sought to find out what people thought about open space and how it could be improved. The results of
the previous openspace consultation can be viewed.
Strategic Environmental Assessment
It was determined that the Strategy has the potential to have significant effects on the environment, as such under the
Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005 a Strategic Environmental Assessment has been undertaken and an
Environmental Report produced we would welcome your views and comments on this too.
Equalities Impact Assessment
We have also undertaken an
Equalities Impact Assessment which you can view.
