600 hours of Nursery Consultation

The Scottish Government, through the Children and Young People’s Bill, has promised to increase the number of hours for eligible 3 and 4 year old children to early learning and childcare from 475 hours per year to 600 hours per year. Local authorities will be required to do this from August 2014.

As part of the Bill South Ayrshire Council want to consult with parents on how this will be implemented. The views of all parents and carers of children under five are being sought on how these increases in early learning and childcare should be introduced.

The Consultation Period is from 4th - 22nd November.

The results of the survey will be used to support the implementation of 600 hours of early learning and childcare services for children under school age. Recommendations will be prepared for approval by the Council’s Leadership Panel.

Your views are important to help plan the proposed increase in pre-school provision in South Ayrshire.
