Council housing allocation - policy review

People looking to secure council housing in South Ayrshire are being asked to help shape the way the process works. Following a series of public events earlier this year we’re now looking for further feedback on the way our systems operate for individuals and families applying for new accommodation.

The Housing (Scotland) Act 2014 introduced a number of changes to the way in which social landlords can allocate houses. South Ayrshire Council is currently reviewing its Housing Allocations Policy, to ensure that its existing stock is used to help meet local housing needs in the most effective way.

The review is considering every aspect of the current system, including:

  • Streamlining waiting lists to prioritise those most in need
  • The circumstances that determine whether an applicant has a 'reasonable preference' for housing
  • The reasons that an application might be suspended

If you have a view on the subject we are looking to hear from you. If you have a couple of minutes please take the time to complete this short online survey.

This survey is open until Thursday 30, November 2017 after which your feedback will be used to help shape future policy.
