Creating a safe, healthy and confident South Ayrshire

South Ayrshire Monitoring Station (SAMS)

South Ayrshire Council’s Monitoring Station is based in Ayr and monitors a wide range of Council services 24 hours a day.

The Council has a total of 105 public space CCTV cameras installed in Ayr, Troon, Prestwick, Maybole and Girvan.

SAMS also monitors all Dispersed Community Alarms and Sheltered Housing Unit alarms from residents in both North and South Ayrshire. This service is provided to almost 7,000 people over the two Councils.

Victims of domestic abuse can be supported with the installation of an emergency alarm within their own home. If there is a need for this alarm to be activated, it is directly linked to SAMS and on receipt of such a call SAMS staff will alert the Police.

In addition to these key services, SAMS is also responsible for:

  • NHS CCTV
  • Housing Emergency Repairs
  • Intruder & Fire Alarm Monitoring
  • Roads & Lighting Faults
  • Lone worker Monitoring
  • NHS Integrated Care System
  • Re-Deployable CCTV
  • Noise Nuisance Help Line (Tel 0800 7310410)
  • Antisocial Behaviour Advice Line (Tel 0845 502825)
