Community Safety
Community Support Workers
Community Support Workers patrol areas throughout South Ayrshire identifying and
reporting environmental and antisocial behaviour issues in Communities.
They work closely with the Community Police and with other services in the neighbourhood
and provide an additional resource in areas identified as hot spot problem areas
for fly tipping, graffiti, dog fouling, litter, youth disorder, drinking in public
places and underage drinking.
They also link with housing services to assist in patrolling areas where environmental
issues are causing problems in communities. They work with the rest of the area
team as appropriate to involve communities in solving antisocial behaviour and environmental
problems in their areas. They are trained to work with young people and provide
a range of diversionary and community based activities for young people. This includes
provision and management of mobile sports facilities (The mobile multi use games
area and the mobile skatepark). They regularly patrol target areas and have powers
to issue fixed penalties for litter and dog fouling.
