South Ayrshire Council
Community events
South Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership – which includes representatives from
South Ayrshire Council, NHS Ayrshire & Arran, Strathclyde Police, Strathclyde
Fire and Rescue as well as other agencies and the voluntary sector – already consults
local communities in a number of ways.
We want to make sure we do this in the best way possible and give you the chance
to have your say on local topics that relate to our partnership working.
From September and October 2011, we’re piloting a new approach to community engagement
in one urban and one rural area - Troon and Carrick. This new approach is centred
around community engagements events and three have been arranged:
- Troon Concert Hall – Thursday 29 September
- Maybole Town Hall – Wednesday 5 October
- Girvan Carrick Buildings – Monday 10 October
In order to understand what young people think about the Troon area, we would be
grateful if you would take a few minutes of your time to fill out this short questionnaire.
At each of these events, you’ll have the chance to find out what we’re doing in
your area, celebrate the achievements of local communities and highlight issues
for the partners to address. These could be issues such as anti-social behaviour,
traffic management, parking or hospital transport.
You can drop in to our afternoon session (1.30pm-5pm) and check out our ‘marketplace’
of stalls, agency representatives and local organisations. Alternatively, you can
come along in the evening (7pm-9pm) and take part in our group discussions and question
and answer session. You can even do both if you want!
This is your chance to find out about what community planning means in practice
and the difference it can make to you, so make sure you come along to your local
event.
If your community group or organisation would like to book a table or be part of
our marketplace at any of these events, contact Colette McGarva on 01292 616421
or at colette.mcgarva@south-ayrshire.gov.uk.
The pilot approach to community engagement will run for 12 months and will then
be evaluated to assess if these events proved worthwhile and should be rolled out
elsewhere.
