Ayr Fairtrade
Ayr Fairtrade
Partnership was set up in December 2004 to work towards making Ayr a Fairtrade
Town, encourage greater support of Fairtrade and raise awareness of the FAIRTRADE
Mark. The group is made up of volunteers representing all aspects of the local community
- local businesses, community organisations, churches and South Ayrshire Council.
Ayr was awarded Fairtrade
Town Status on 26 February 2007, but there is still plenty of work to do to further
promote Fairtrade in Ayr. We would like to see more and more local businesses, retailers,
caterers, organisations and schools providing Fairtrade products, increasing the
range of Fairtrade products available to everyone in Ayr.
Fairtrade is not about charity, but giving a fair deal to marginalised third world
producers. The best way to support them is to buy Fairtrade products. However, the
Fairtrade Foundation's public education work in the UK and the development of new
products depends on donations and grants.

Ayr Fairtrade Partnership for more information.
