Multi Agency Partnership on Violence Against Women and Children

Domestic Violence

DISMANTLING DOMESTIC ABUSE TRAINING

South Ayrshire Council has developed a new Multi-Agency partnership to improve services to women and children experiencing domestic abuse. This partnership has secured funding through the Scottish Government's Domestic Abuse Service Development Fund to deliver:-

  • a range of services for women & children experiencing domestic abuse,
  • a comprehensive training package for service providers

The Multi Agency Partnership is committed to tackling domestic abuse & recognises this is an issue which blights the lives of many women & children in South Ayrshire. It will work together to encourage a climate where all forms of domestic abuse will be condemned and the devastating effect domestic abuse has on the lives of women and children will be addressed.

Limited places are currently available free of charge for South Ayrshire based service providers in both the voluntary and statutory sector.

Topics covered will include:

  • Identifying Domestic Abuse
  • The Impact of Domestic Abuse on the lives of Women and Children
  • Women's & Children's Experiences and Needs
  • Service Provision - the roles we play
It is envisaged that future 'Dismantling Domestic Abuse' training days will be developed through feedback and consultation with individuals, projects and departments as the programme progresses.

This training programme is supported by the partnership and is being provided as part of our commitment to combat the reality of domestic abuse and its impact on service delivery.

Research has shown over time & across cultures the pattern of systematic violence in the home is overwhelmingly male violence directed at women partners. Whilst it is recognised that there are violent women & children within our society the 'Dismantling Domestic Abuse' programme will concentrate on the issue of Male Violence Against Women & Children.

Domestic Abuse Is A Serious Social Problem....
Dismantling Domestic Abuse Requires
A Social & Professional Commitment At All Levels
