Health & Social Care

New and emerging issues effecting Community Councils is the integration of Health & Social Care within South Ayrshire Council, which came into effect on 1st April, 2015.

The partnership will work with local communities, including Community Councils, to improve health, support social care, tackle health inequality, and improve community wellbeing to those residing in South Ayrshire.

The Community Empowerment Bill which is currently at STAGE 3 process

A Bill to make provision about national outcomes; to confer functions on certain persons in relation to services provided by, and assets of, certain public bodies; to amend Part 2 of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003; to enable certain bodies to buy abandoned or neglected land; to make provision for registers of common good property and about disposal and use of such property; to restate and amend the law on allotments; to enable local authorities to reduce or remit non-domestic rates; and for connected purposes.

Community Council Website

Nationally within the Community Council Network, a new website, developed by Scottish Government, COSLA and Improvement Service is in operation. Community Council members can scan this site to gain support and information on a wide range of activities which promote the actions of Community Councils for the well-being of their communities.
