South Ayrshire Children's Panel
Panel Members
This is a group of unpaid trained volunteers who come from a wide range of backgrounds.
There is a Panel for each local area. A Children’s Hearing is made up of three Panel
members (which must include male and female). The Hearing decides whether compulsory
measures of supervision are needed for the child and any associated conditions.
All panel members are trained to communicate with children and their families. Members
of the public aged between 18 to 60 can apply to become Panel members during the
annual recruitment campaign in August.
Across Scotland there are over 2,000 Panel members. They are carefully prepared
for their task through initial training programmes and they have opportunities during
their period of service to develop their knowledge and skills and attend in-service
training courses.
