Child Protection

Procedures, Policies and Protocols

If you have any questions or require any further information on any inter-agency procedures, policies or protocols please email us at child.protectioncommittee@south-ayrshire.gov.uk

Inter-agency child protection procedures
These set out common standards for everyone involved in protecting children in South Ayrshire. They make clear how agencies should work together and to ensure that practice is consistent and of a high quality. They have been prepared on a collaborative basis by the West of Scotland CPCs Chairs Consortium.

Keeping Children Safe - Sex Offender Community Disclosure Scheme
Keeping Children Safe is a process that allows any member of the public to make an application to Strathclyde Police if they have a concern about a person’s access to a child. It is a slow time information sharing process. Any disclosure will only be made to the parent, guardian or carer of that child.

National guidance for Child Protection in Scotland 2010
Published on 13 December 2010, this updates the previous national guidance Protecting Children – a Shared responsibility: Guidance on Interagency Co-operation (1998). The new guidance considers the significant changes in child protection policy and practice that have taken place over the past 12 years and outlines suggested approaches that should be considered by those involved in delivering child protection policy and practice in local areas. South Ayrshire CPC is reviewing the content and will update local procedures to reflect changes as required to better improve the delivery of services to protect children across South Ayrshire.
