Child Protection
Questions and Answers
What if I'm wrong
If you're concerned about a child, talk to someone about it. They may have more
information and your bit of information could add to the bigger picture.
Will they be told that I contacted you?
If you wish to remain anonymous, you can. However it is helpful if you give your
contact details as there might be further information you could give. The family
will not be given your details unless you agree.
What happens when I phone you?
All referrals are treated seriously. Information systems will be checked, contact
made with other professionals and a visit will be made to the family to assess the
situation.
Will the children be taken away?
Not necessarily. Every effort will be made to keep the family together where appropriate,
however sometimes children do have to be removed for a period.
Will you let me know what has happened?
You will be advised of the process, but the outcome of an investigation will remain
confidential.
