Child Protection

Information for people who work with children

Regardless of your role, you play an important part in protecting children and young people in South Ayrshire. You have the following responsibilities:

  • To be aware of your organisations child protection policies/procedure
  • To be alert to indicators of concern in children and young people you come into contact with
  • To respond to concerns you have about a child by acting in accordance with your organisations procedures

The National Guidance for Child Protection reflects Scotland’s changing landscape and provides information on new areas of practice and approaches which have shaped activity at both national and local level.

Child protection policies and procedures in South Ayrshire are informed by West of Scotland Interagency Child Protection Procedures.

Child Protection Training

Those people working with children and young people throughout South Ayrshire can access a variety of child protection training opportunities which can be booked through South Ayrshire Inter-Agency CPD.

South Ayrshire Council Employees

South Ayrshire Council employees can access a short e-learning module via COAST. Access to the full range of child protection training opportunities for South Ayrshire Council employees can found through Gateway.
