Homecoming Scotland 2009
Homecoming Scotland 2009 is a Scottish Government initiative, co-ordinated by EventScotland, that marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns by co-ordinating a year long series of Events that will motivate people of Scottish descent, as well as those who love Scotland, to come home in 2009 and take part in an inspirational celebration of our culture, heritage and the many contributions Scotland has given the world.
Homecoming Scotland 2009 celebrates more than Burns. There are 5 main pillars for activity:
1. Burns
2. Golf
3. Whisky
4. Scottish Ancestry
5. Scottish Enlightenment and Innovation
The objectives of Homecoming Scotland are to:
1. Delivery additional tourism visits and revenue for Scotland
2. Engage and motivate the Scottish Diaspora
3. Celebrate Scotland’s outstanding contribution to the world
4. Promote pride amongst Scots at home and abroad.
