Building Standards
Public Safety
South Ayrshire Council is responsible authority for the safety of sports grounds,
issuing licenses for public entertainment and dealing with dangerous buildings.
Dangerous Buildings
All buildings which appear to be dangerous should be reported to Building Standards
who will treat the matter with the utmost urgency.
Sports Grounds
The Building Standards office co-ordinates this work and consequently Building Standards
staff are closely involved in the technical assessment and regular site inspection
of Sports Grounds and stands.
General Licensing
A large variety of venues are assessed and inspected ranging from routine inspections
of public houses, hotels and bingo halls to considerable involvement in the licensing
of open air events like fairgrounds, the National Outdoor Bowling Championships,
Air Displays and the Open Golf Championships.
