Street Names, Numbers and Name Plates

The Building Standards Service is responsible for naming streets and numbering properties in South Ayrshire. Streets are named and buildings are allocated numbers when they are first built and then from time to time, to overcome practical difficulties or to accommodate new development, changes have to be made. Using this section you can report problems and requests for Street Names, Numbers and Name plates.

Disability Issues

The Building Regulations ensure that certain new and extended buildings used for specified purposes are accessible, have suitable toilets and satisfactory means of escape for people with disabilities.

Type Approval

The Scottish Association of Building Standards Managers (SABSM) Scottish Type Approval Scheme (STAS) provides a fast track route to approval through the regulatory procedures for standard buildings, modular buildings or building systems. Local authorities throughout Scotland are members of the STAS.

Engineering Services

The Council's Structural and Civil Engineering facility within the Building Standards Service provide a wide range of engineering design, implementation and advice to all Departments of the Council.
