South Ayrshire Council Building Standards

Building Standards Services are part of the Department of Development and Environment Directorate and are located at Burns House, Burns Statue Square, Ayr.

Building Standards is independent from the building industry and is an unbiased and neutral body.

Prior to the 1st of May 2005 the Building Standards functions were carried out in terms of the Building (Scotland) Act 1959. On the 1st of May 2005 a new Building Standards system was introduced and the Building Standards services now operates within the Building (Scotland) Act 2003.

Users will find several web pages have "buttons" to select the new or old systems, as appropriate.
