Sportscotland National Priorities

Clubgolf

This programme aims to ensure that every child by the age of 9 has had the opportunity to experience golf. Firstclubgolf is a six-week programme designed to give children aged 9 a first introduction to golf in primary school. By using modified equipment in a safe and fun way participating children will expect to learn some basic golfing concepts and terminology. They will receive a positive first experience of golf and an opportunity to progress onto a clubgolf 'Stage 1 programme' at a local golf club or facility.

Bank of Scotland National School Sport Week

The aim is to use the power and spirit of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to inspire more young people to understand the value of sport and take part in more sport.

Fit for Girls

Fit for Girls is specifically aimed at girls and young women who are least likely to be physically active, who are not currently active in the extracurricular setting and, in some cases, those who opt out of curricular PE. The initiative is aimed at girls aged 11-16 with the intention of encouraging them to adopt more active lifestyles.

Young Ambassadors

Since its beginning the Young Ambassadors programme has grown from strength to strength and has been awarded the London 2012 Inspire Mark for education and forms an important part of the PE and sport strand of Get Set, the official London 2012 education programme. Central to the Young Ambassador programme is the principle that young people age 14-19 drive opportunity, engagement and change for other young people aged 5-19. The role of a Young Ambassador involves increasing participation in school sport and PE, spreading the word of the Olympic and Paralympic Values – respect, friendship, personal excellence, courage, determination, inspiration and equality – and promoting the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Sport Relief

A Bi-Annual event with Sainsburys Sport Relief miles being organised throughout the UK to help get more people active as part of the 2012 and 2014 legacy plans.
