About Troon
Troon is the northern of South Ayrshire's seaside towns. Its soft, sandy beaches
overlook the Isle of Arran.
A full range of recreational pursuits is available including an indoor swimming
pool, squash, tennis courts and bowling greens.
Troon is synonymous with golf. Its 6 quality golf courses include three excellent
public courses. The championship links course of Royal Troon last hosted The Open
in 2004. Play on some of the best
golf courses in Scotland.
Troon offers a good selection of restaurants, wine bars and ice cream parlours along
with many individually owned shops which offer something a little bit different.
The town has a busy port with freight and passenger ferry services to Larne, Northern
Ireland, timber-link and other commercial services, restaurant and
chip shop. Its marina, Troon Yacht Haven, is one of the Clyde's leading sailing
centres.
